What the rankings mean
Structural review first
The default sort prioritizes entries that have an independent install-structure review record. That is stronger evidence than popularity, but it is still not a code audit.
GitHub stars
A rough community-interest signal. It does not prove quality, security or compatibility.
npm downloads
Only available for plugins published to npm. GitHub-only plugins have no comparable npm download count.
Newest
Sorts by the date the plugin was added to the discovery registry, not necessarily the repository creation date.
Before installing a plugin
A community listing is not a security endorsement. This site does not redistribute its install command. Review the author repository before deciding whether to run third-party code.
- Open the author's GitHub repository and read the README plus package metadata.
- Inspect lifecycle scripts, child-process or shell execution, filesystem/network access and credential handling.
- If package installation requests build approval, treat that as permission to execute third-party code during installation.
- Prefer a disposable profile/workspace for the first test, without important credentials.
- Pin an exact version or commit yourself when reproducibility matters.
